On the contrary, titanium and titanium alloys are used in various manufactured goods because of their high biocompatibility and lightweight nature. However ,because of titanium`s unique characteristics, it tends to cause sand sintering and wearing out of parts made of other materials,especially involving moving parts.
The Fresh Green process is the superior surface modification method used for titanium and titanium alloys that produces a durable, hardened surface. Greater durability allows application to a wider range of uses.

High photocatalytic activity and exceptional durability
Titanium material beyond titanium ...Fresh Green

Fresh Green is a unique material that reinforces titanium or titanium oxide surfaces by adding carbon and oxygen molecules simultaneously. Accordingly, the base material must be titanium or titanium alloy.
Fresh Green film fuses with the titanium material,and therefore the concentration of oxygen and carbon is gradually changing within the boundary layer between the Fresh Green film and base metal.

The Figure1 shows Vickers hardness of the Fresh Green film, other materials and plating films. Vickers hardness of titanium, which is the base material of Fresh Green, is only 117, lower than that of Type304 Stainless Steel.
The Fresh Green film has a fairly high Vickers hardness of 1600, much higher than nickel plating and hard chromium plating which are used to increase the surface hardness of structural members.



Wear resistance

Fresh Green demonstrates high frictional wear resistance. The figure 2 shows the results of the wear test for Fresh Green film, other materials and plating films. The amount of friction measured on Ti-6Al-4V is with Fresh Green film, is ~150mg. On the other hand, Fresh Green film is only <10mg, lower than gas nitriding and WC thermal spraying which are evaluated as superior coating techniques for anti-wearing.

Fresh Green demonstrates superior corrosion resistance. The left figure shows the corrosion rate of Fresh Green and titanium for 6 reagents. The corrosion rate of Fresh Green is much lower than that of titanium for every reagent.

With its unparalleled durability, the potential applications for the Fresh Green process are infinite.
